Manifesto

Coffeebot Labs, and its contributors believe in, and promise to adhere to the following guidelines.

Our original projects1 will be:

  • free, gratis.
    • We will provide all of the original ideas or projects presented here, free of charge. We want everyone to have full access to everything we do.
  • free, libre.
    • We will maintain an open and liberated approach to our original projects. We want people to grow and expand on our ideas.
  • licensed under Creative Commons and OSI-approved Licenses.
    • We will license our works under the most liberal guidelines as possible. We will require explicit, written permission for any commercial use of our projects. For more information, please see Creative Commons and the Open Source Initiative.

Our derivative works2 will be:

  • documented and attributed.
    • We will always give credit where credit is due. We recognize that the process of learning often requires using someone else's work as a stepping stone, and they deserve credit for their work. Plagiarism is uncouth and unacceptable.
  • limited to the original licensing.
    • We will provide as much information regarding our derivative projects as possible. If we build off of a project that has limited rights, we must honor them. We will document the original licensing in our work.

1. Original Projects are those which Coffeebot Labs' contributors have conceived of and produced on their own. While they may be related to, or based upon other works, we feel that they are different enough to be considered unique.
2. Derivative Works are those which Coffeebot Labs' contributors are clearly reproducing or marginally modifying another work or project.
